While yoga is not an activity that necessarily requires gear to participate, Alignyo points out that there are props that help to support and enhance your practice. Of the three props that they mention, the thriving online yoga community begins their article by exploring the Three Minute Egg®.
Alignyo found that the ergonomic design of the Eggs is “more aligned with the shape of your body, making the egg an ideal fit for between your legs (think mountain pose or backbends).” They note the availability of different Egg densities: Hard-Boiled for support in weight arm balances, and the softer Namastegg, ideal for supporting your head and spine. The latter is their preference, finding that “these cushiony eggs are a great comfort in restorative poses like supported fish.”
Ultimately, they concluded that “your standard block will still do the trick, but if you are a fan of restorative yoga, we recommend trying the Namastegg as a comfy addition to your reclining postures.”
The blog went on to recognize (more…)

Three Minute Egg® will be exhibiting in Santa Monica, CA, at the Tadasana Festival of Yoga & Music over Earth Day weekend April 20-22. Jason is excited to return home to Santa Monica (he lived in LA for 16 years prior to moving to Asheville) and 3ME is excited to be amongst an active and transformative yoga community where over 60 master teachers are offering over 75 classes and workshops, many with live music from musicians traveling across the globe to attend. You can find us alongside other exhibitors in the yoga-village shopping market, only a five-minute walk from the famous Santa Monica pier.
Stop by our booth to take advantage of a private yoga lesson with the Eggs. Making an Egg purchase at conferences allows you to avoid paying shipping costs and get a Free DVD! Several teachers will most likely be using the Eggs in classes.
This will be the second conference of the 2012 Three Minute Egg® tour, following our attendance at The Yoga Conference & Show: Toronto just a few weeks ago. Following Tadasana Festival we will be headed to the Southeast Regional Iyengar Conference in Washington, DC, followed by the Midwest Yoga Conference in Chicago in mid-May.
Stay tuned for more announcements about 3ME On the Road!

The Eggs were a success with the very talented Joan White by their side at her most recent weekend of general and continuing education classes at Postures Yoga in Naples, Florida. Students and teachers that attended the workshop reveled in the expertise that Joan offered in the Iyengar yoga studio, having returned by special request.
Those that attended adapted the Eggs in several different applications. For Supta Sukhasana and Supta Baddha Konasana Joan demonstrated how using two Eggs on their side adjacent to each other as well as under the dorsal and thoracic spine provided immense support, along with additional Eggs and blankets to raise the head.
Studio owner Suzie Muchnick participated in the powerhouse Iyengar yoga weekend as well, teaching a variety of classes alongside Joan. Suzie said that she enjoys “using them under the lower sacrum to the bottom of the shoulder blades for Setu Banha Sarvangasana.” She used additional Eggs laid flat to change the geometry for individual bodies with taller or more open students.
Following Joan’s workshop weekend we took a minute to follow up with Suzie. She told us that “my students and I find working with the Eggs a lot of fun and in some ways, for some asanas, more efficient then blankets or blocks. Another tool in our tool chest! or is it another toy in our toy chest?”
We appreciate the continued support from Suzie and Postures Yoga Studio. This was just the first of Joan’s 2012 workshop tour; stay tuned to the 3ME Blog for continued updates!
Below are just a few moments captured from this amazing weekend.

Egg Signateur Joan White is preparing to rev up her Philadelphia stomping grounds with an Iyengar workshop weekend hosted by Practice Yoga Studio. Her Senior Iyengar Yoga expertise will be partnered with the knowledge of yogic author Edwin Bryant, best known for his translation and commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali published in 2009. Together, the two will present an incredible combination of sutras and asanas from Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 1.
While Joan tours throughout the year to offer various workshops around the country and the world, the Philadelphia favorite will remain in the city for this one. As the director of the B.K.S. Iyengar School of Central Philadelphia, her expertise has been recognized time and time again by the city; she has been named the Yoga Doyenne of Philadelphia by the Philadelphia Magazine, and has been awarded Best of Philly for yoga three times.
Edwin Bryant received his PhD in Indic Languages and Cultures from Columbia University. He later went on teach both at Columbia and Harvard University, and he has been teaching at Rutgers University since 2001 where he has been a professor of Hindu religion and philosophy.
Together, Edwin and Joan are sure to offer what will be a special weekend.

In the first of what will be many giveaways this Spring, we are excited to announce that we have teamed up with our good friends at JadeYoga for a Three Minute Egg® giveaway. This week they will be giving away a Namastegg Starter Kit in the color of the victor’s choice to a lucky winner. To enter, simply visit and ‘like’ Jade’s Facebook page and comment on their status that announces the giveaway itself. The giveaway will last for one week, and at random one winner will be chosen.
Owner and inventor of JadeYoga Mats, Dean Jerrehian, is a dear friend of 3ME owner and inventor, Jason Scholder. In addition to a fantastic product, the story behind its creation is wonderful. The company grew out of Jade Industries, Inc., which made non-slip rubber rug pads for area rugs since the 1970s; the idea for a yoga mat evolved from a consistent request from yogis to make a mat out of the pads to fit their needs to use in their yoga practice. The response to the creation of JadeYoga Mats has been tremendous versus the typical, non-stick yoga mats. JadeYoga Mats are also eco-friendly, boasting that natural rubber has better cushion and resilience, making it more comfortable versus the standard synthetic materials so many other mats are made of.
With a JadeYoga Mat beneath you and a set of Eggs in your hands, you’re sure to have the most enjoyable practice in town. Stay tuned to 3ME for more giveaways soon.

It was at the Toronto Yoga Conference and Show where I first had the pleasure of meeting Jason Scholder. After attending Jason’s Three Minute Egg presentation in the Yoga Garden, I immediately fell in love with the Eggs! This experience forever changed the way I thought about yoga props.
Before I was introduced to the Three Minute Egg®, I was only familiar with square props–the traditional yoga block as they’re commonly referred to. As an experienced sales associate working for my father at JadeYoga Canada, I was familiar with the benefits of using blocks as they can offer the support and height needed to practice a pose safely, comfortably, and with beautiful alignment. Nevertheless, it’s not uncommon to hear that blocks end up being caste aside because “they just don’t feel good.”
After attending Jason’s demonstration, I knew that the Three Minute Egg was an incredibly innovative and original product. Entering the inviting 3ME booth to purchase my first set, I was immediately impressed with the overall presentation–friendly and knowledgeable staff, an outstanding selection of colours, as well as show discounts and a free instructional DVD! When the catchy slogan “Because your Body’s Not Square” caught my attention, it all made perfect sense. Since our body’s are curved, using a hard and rigid square shape is naturally going to feel uncomfortable and awkward to work with. The yoga block needed to evolve, and because of Jason’s vision we now have the latest innovation–the Three Minute Egg®. (more…)
