In the October, 2011 issue of Yoga Journal, Jason Crandell’s column “Align + Refine” discusses how one slight adjustment to your alignment can drastically broaden the powerful effects of backbends — especially with the aid of props. His article translates the alignment adjustment through three common backbends, with the Three Minute Egg featured prominently in two of them.
The adjustment is simple, Jason says: tilt your pelvis backward in a posterior tilt to initiate the bend, and lightly draw in your lower abdomen. A little bit goes a long way; it helps to lengthen the lower back and free any strain or compression. The additional use of yoga props along with this technique helps to reinforce its effects. “Throughout my adventures, travels & movement from motherhood to teaching yoga I’ve found that I always have my Three Minute Eggs with me (this has created both curiosity and humor at customs). They are integral to my practice, from creating a little more space for my hips to open, to deepening restorative poses with gentle yet powerful support behind my heart.” - Janet Stone
Music, laughter, and a journey of the heart are the values that permeate Janet Stone’s approach to Vinyasa yoga. Having transcended many layers of personal transformation, through family, travels and yoga, Janet has emerged a powerful yogi, offering a vibrant presence that’s spreading like wildfire. Describing her own practice as “dynamic, prana movin’, heart-expanding, rough [yet] tender, fluid and steady,” the energy she emits is contagious and students love her.”*
Janet’s roots burrow deep into the soil of beautiful Northern California, where she came of age on a wide-open, free-loving hippie farm. It was there that she began to develop a profound, natural connection to the Earth. The farm was a haven of warm, cheerful brightness. An equal emphasis was placed on hard work & bailing hay, as swimming naked & dancing freely.
A passion for adventure, physical challenge, and flexibility has led Janet down many paths. Life after college landed her in Los Angeles where she spent 11 years funneling her perceptive energy into television and film. Her spirit eventually broke free of Hollywood and led her to (more…)

We have some exciting news coming straight to your laptop from us here at 3ME headquarters: the Three Minute Egg has been featured in (drum roll please) the Los Angeles Times – Health section as innovative yoga gear to try, and first on the list at that!
The article, titled “Gear: A few new angles for yoga,” broaches the subject of the proliferation of yoga innovations now that yoga has caught on in the States. New experiences and ideas have generated a multitude of modifications on the traditional straps, mats and blocks by inspired inventors, such as the first man to lay an Egg, Jason Scholder!

That’s where we come in, referenced as a tool to help give extra reach and simultaneously reduce hand and wrist strain. This is a direct quote from the article: (more…)

The Three Minute Egg® is great for seniors!
I love the Three Minute Egg®! You introduced them to me when I was in LA for the Yoga Therapy Symposium in 2009.
I love them for me because they are wonderful to open up my spine in bed or on a yoga mat. I lay over them top of spine to bottom with the highest part of the egg at the thoracic spine and they help me fall off to sleep and also to wake up in the morning. Sounds contradictory I know but it’s true.
If I’m feeling overwhelmed and emotional (more…)

Blocks have been by far my favorite Yoga prop. I find there’s nothing better to use for removing blockages, for needed support, for propping up body parts in restorative poses. Well, ordinary blocks may need to be stacked aside now that I’ve discovered the 3-Minute Egg.
Fortunately, these are eggs that are vegan-friendly, so named for their oblong shape. They’re fashioned from the same foam material as standard blocks, but their rounded shape gives them the perfect curve for supporting the spine, the neck or the low back in any of the restorative asana interludes that make it possible for me to edit this magazine for hours on end hunched over a computer screen. The rounded edges of the eggs also make them a nice hand-hold for lunges and jump-backs in held poses and vinayasa sequences.
The company’s owner and inventor Jason Scholder has adapted them for use in his own practice and
he’s a passionate advocate for their use. He’s not the only one. The other day, I had to scavenge my set from my housemate’s bedrooms, where they had decided to enlist the eggs for their own restorative practices. Find Scholder and the three-minute eggs in the Vendor Village at Bhakti Fest, September 9 -12, or online: threeminuteegg.com.

I feel a combination of gratitude and astonishment when people review the Three Minute Egg® and have this many positive things to say. I of course think it’s a great product, but I’m supposed to feel that way. I invented it! When other people take the time to share their thoughts and recommendations, all I can say is, “Thank you.” So today I am saying a belated ‘Thank you’ to Yoga Deals for doing such a nice write-up on my product. If you have anything you’d like to add, please do! And please share this with your yoga community. I really appreciate it!
design within stretch – three minute egg – product review
the three minute egg is the new block on the mat, but what’s with the name? according to the founder and ‘recovering’ furniture maker, jason (aka creative dude with a bad back), the name was hatched (i couldn’t resist) because of the “great benefits [that] can come from a practice where one holds challenging poses for up to 3 minutes & restorative poses for at least 3 or more.” jason also mentioned, that we should be on the lookout for… (more…)

Chakra Value -- $108
Every once in a while, someone creates a yoga product that makes so much sense, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t always around. This is most certainly the case with the Three Minute Egg®.
Like most skeptics, when I first saw the Three Minute Egg®, I didn’t imagine it would have so much to offer — or at least not so much to offer me. It didn’t take long to convinc and convert me. There is a bit of a learning curve associated with using the Egg, but the time spent is well worth the benefits gained. Jason Scholder (owner/inventor of the Three Minute Egg) brought two yoga instructors with him to the most recent New York Yoga and Raw Food Expo. The three of them spent three days offering private yoga instruction as well as three free workshops. I spent a solid half hour being led through a sequence of blissful supportive postures, and kept looking for excuses to wander back by their booth.
The Three Minute Egg® is (more…)

To maintain or restore your health for fertility, you’d do well to seek a balanced diet, keep a regular meditation practice, and get enough exercise. Of course, I could say that about any time of life, and it’d still be pretty good advice. However, these things are especially important when you’re trying to conceive.
Kinds of Fertility Yoga
The type of yoga you do matters as well. Do a gentler type of yoga, where your body, mind, and spirit learn the art of relaxation. Some good examples include Yin and Restorative yoga, as well as slow-flow and subtle yoga. you can still get a tremendous workout, but it doesn’t have to come at the expense of your body’s much-needed energy.
Certain kinds of yoga are considered by many to be too strenuous (more…)
