“When you place your palms on the floor in Adho Mukha Svanasana you have to find where your energy is present and where it is absent, where the life force is active, or overactive, and where passive and inactive.” – B.K.S. Iyengar, Yoga Wisdom & Practice
Where To
- Under the hands
- Under the forearms
- Between the thighs
- Under the forehead
Why To
- If you find that there is significant discomfort in the shoulders this is often because there is too much weight being placed on the hands. An Egg under each hand takes away some of this pressure and encourages you to shift more weight back into your feet.
- Wrist discomfort is one of the primary complaints in many inverted postures. This can be caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or simply a lack of (more…)

These days, you can find Marianne Wells in The Goddess Garden of Cahuita, Costa Rica, home of the Marianne Wells Yoga School. The Three Minute Egg® is not simply a replacement for the traditional square yoga blocks, although as people gain experience with the Eggs their blocks are often cast aside. The Three Minute Egg® is more than that. It’s a new way of thinking about yoga props. Even as its inventor I am constantly surprised by its versatility (every teacher seems to find some unique application for the Eggs), and its versatility brings with it the need for some clarification.
Now that you’ve decided you want some Eggs, there’s a good chance you have a few questions. Can I get any colors I want? What’s a Hard-Boiled Egg? Are there actual signatures on some of the Eggs? Who’s Annie Carpenter? In fact, you may be thinking (in a Ricky Ricardo sort of voice), “Jaaaason, you got some esplaining to do!” Allow me to elaborate.
We currently offer 3 variations of the original Three Minute Egg®: Namasteggs, Signature Eggs and Hard-Boiled Eggs.

All of these Eggs are the same size and shape. The Hard-Boiled Eggs are denser and a tiny bit heavier. The difference in density is important and noticeable. The difference in weight (unless you’re holding a box of 72 Eggs) is not. The general principle is this: if the Eggs are in your hands, and your weight is on the Eggs (think Upward Facing Dog or any arm-balancing pose), you want those Eggs to be Hard-Boiled — for the most part 2 is enough. If the Eggs are supporting your head and/or spine (think Supported Fish or Reclining Butterfly Pose) and you’re planning to stay there a while, you will be more comfortable and better able to relax into the slightly softer Namasteggs — a minimum of 4 is recommended (3 under the spine and one under the head). This golden ratio of 2 Hard-Boiled Eggs to 4 Namasteggs is what led us to create the Breakfast of Yogis and Yogi Meal (the only difference being that the Yogi Meal comes with our introductory DVD). Forgive me for gushing, but today I awoke to slew of new orders, and I just couldn’t figure out where they were coming from! I finally glanced at my Google Analytics and found over 300 referrals from RealAge.com. Evidently they had written an article about the benefits of yoga for back pain, and named the Three Minute Egg® as Editor’s Choice for back pain yoga! Evidently they have a large following because over 300 of their readers clicked on the link and I’ve been packing boxes all day.
Thank you, Real Age, for the Editor’s Choice selection.
Meanwhile, it’s no secret that (more…)

To maintain or restore your health for fertility, you’d do well to seek a balanced diet, keep a regular meditation practice, and get enough exercise. Of course, I could say that about any time of life, and it’d still be pretty good advice. However, these things are especially important when you’re trying to conceive.
Kinds of Fertility Yoga
The type of yoga you do matters as well. Do a gentler type of yoga, where your body, mind, and spirit learn the art of relaxation. Some good examples include Yin and Restorative yoga, as well as slow-flow and subtle yoga. you can still get a tremendous workout, but it doesn’t have to come at the expense of your body’s much-needed energy.
Certain kinds of yoga are considered by many to be too strenuous (more…)

Toronto: March 26-28
This weekend I’ll be exhibiting the Three Minute Egg at the Toronto Yoga and Pilates show. Last week I sold out of Eggs in Winnipeg at the Live This Life Expo (which I never had time to blog about). I’m pretty excited to see what happens this weekend! If you or anyone you know lives in or near Toronto, please tell them to come out and say “hello.” They might even want to buy some Eggs!
I’d like to especially thank my friend Graydon, who has been kind enough to host me while I’m here in Toronto. She and her friend, Megan (Pilates Instructor) will be helping me run my booth while I introduce my Eggs to Toronto.
See y’all there!

Try this for an added challenge!
When it comes to Advanced Yogis and yoga props, the response is almost inevitably, “Not for me, thanks. I don’t use props.” Many will say that the more they advance, the less interest they have in yoga props, and the less they feel they need them. And so I put forth the following question: What does it truly mean in yoga to be advanced?
The practice of asana inspires us to find where we are on any given day. Making a declarative statement about where we are fails to factor in one of life’s biggest constants — change. Our bodies change, our abilities change, our energy levels change and our goals change. In this article, I invite you to think outside whatever box you’ve placed around advancing as a yogi, particularly when it comes to using props. (more…)

At least a year ago, i came across this yoga journal article which gets right at the heart of the matter. I thought i’d share it with you. Obviously, since I sell a yoga prop, I’m pro-prop. However, I am working so hard to get people to see the Three Minute Egg as more than a prop! Its uses aren’t limited to helping you overcome some vague yogic shortcoming. The Eggs can make your practice so much more fun and accessible. They can even make something things more challenging!
If you haven’t already done so, get yourself a set of Eggs and start Eggs-perimenting. I’m pretty sure you’re gonna love ‘em!
To Prop or Not to Prop
Are props a helpful supplement to your practice, or do they just get in the way? Here’s how to decide when to use—and not use—these tools. (more…)

Alignment workshop with the Three Minute Egg in EVERGREEN COLORADO
with Lurie Nassau
to register or get more information, please contact:
lurienassau@yahoo.com

about Lurie:
Lurie started teaching yoga in 2005, less than one year after a total hip replacement. She joined the Evergreen Center for Yoga as a practitioner when it opened in January 2004. She found that hot yoga helped with pain associated with years of teaching aerobics and fitness (high impact activities), and a car accident in 1997. Following her hip surgery, she was able to rehabilitate through yoga and pilates. Lurie is certified in Hatha Yoga, Level I and in Hot Vinyasa Yoga, Level II. She applies Iyengar style principles of alignment to her teaching through the use of blocks and straps.
By attending an annual yoga conference and week-end workshops, Lurie strives to bring fresh ideas and updated knowledge to her classes. She is also a certified meditation instructor since 1975 and has practiced meditation for over 37 years. Lurie has a BA in social services, a MA in human relations, and a PhD in speech communication. She retired from teaching college in 1996 to have time for world travels, to learn about other cultures and take adventurous scuba diving trips. Lurie teaches yoga and pilates part time.
