I’ve always believed that yoga is better for easing back pain than traditional therapies, but now there are an increasing number of studies that confirm it. Below are links to some articles that talk about yoga and back pain. I’ve also found some free yoga videos on treating back pain. The Three Minute Egg will be coming out with a video series on back pain in the next few months. Keep checking with us for updated ideas. In the meantime, Happy Reading!

Just read your story about how you invented the egg…
have to say, rumor has it that BKS Iyengar is the first to use ‘props’ in yoga in modern times…and that includes chairs, belts, blocks, pillows, walls, etc. The juice of the rumor is that people made fun of him and the approach-calling it furniture yoga, etc.
Today, prop yoga is widely used for rehabilitation, avoiding surgery, back injuries, etc.
Blocks haven’t been around that long, and in any case, foam blocks have been on the seen for awhile, too. It is in my mind a supremely logical step to make the blogs less angular and, instead, more egg-like. I’m surprised noone has thought of this sooner-but what a brilliant idea, anyway!!!!
Thanks for the great comment! i should probably revisit my story and make sure my facts are straight, but yes, Iyengar is the godfather of props, though i have to imagine people used them before he came along — they just didn’t call it “prop-yoga.” But maybe I’m wrong. In any case, I hope you get to try the Eggs for yourself someday if you haven’t already. They’re pretty groovy!
